Introducing Our Bridge Program Coordinator

Hazel Johnson ('11-'13) will be serving as Life Together's Bridge Program Coordinator during our time of transition. Hazel will be supporting a variety of Life Together program operations between March and July.

Hazel Johnson is a Nevada native who came to this Diocese in 2011 to participate in Life Together. Although she grew up in the Baptist church, Hazel was searching for a church that was welcoming and had a mission that matched her own. In October 2012 Hazel was confirmed as an Episcopalian and joined this Diocese in its fight to create a more just world; God's kingdom on earth. Through her time in Life Together, Hazel worked as a faith-based community organizer recruiting and developing 200 urban youth and faith leaders in the North Shore of Massachusetts to work on public policy issues in the community. Campaigns included restoring youth jobs funding, increasing the Massachusetts minimum wage and working toward citizenship for 11 million aspiring Americans.

Following her years with Life Together Hazel went on to serve as the Director of Education at the Blue Hill Boys & Girls Club, where she was responsible for the development and implementation of all programs within the education department including grammar, math, STEM, science, SAT/ACT prep, leadership, and college and career readiness. She currently serves as the Director of Children and Youth Ministries at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Brookline, sits on the ECM Board and is a Postulant for Holy Orders in the Diocese. Hazel is thrilled and honored to serve as the Bridge Program Coordinator for Life Together in this time of transition.
